Designing Efficient Workbooks
We all know that performance and design are really important when building your workbook. The whitepaper on Designing Efficient Workbooks has just recently been updated and is a must read for anyone using Tableau!
It is an excellent resource with advice on good workbook performance, making data sources, creating calculations, filters, caching and much more!

Specifically, I want the Stacked Bar Chart to update based on user interaction with the Hex Map. When a user hovers over a state on the Hex Map, the Stacked Bar Chart should display only the top three candies for that selected state.

Same process as shown already. But this time use the bar chart to create a new separate filter action process.

I am trying to have a dimension filter (I even tried it to be a context filter). When I bring the sheets to the dashboards and I apply filter action, somehow the filter selection just goes off and only the action works. Any clue why is this happening?

Hi,
I have 2 columns, one is product name and other is action/product, which consists of 0 and 1
I need a filter, which either selects 1, which will be called action level or selects all which will be called product level.
Please guide.
Best Regards , Rajat

Hi @Rajat Trivedi (Member)
One option is to move to using a parameter instead of a filter. That way you can create a calculation that acts as the filter:
The calc here is sayin when one option is chosen in the parameter then the Action/Product must be 1. But if the other option is chosen in the parameter then the Action/Product can be anything (all).

Let me know if this helps ... or if I've misunderstood!

Cynthia Miguel (Member) asked a question.
I have end users that express frustration that when they go to select multiple values on a dashboard I maintain, that the visualizations start to automatically update and others require they select an "Apply" button. They prefer a consistent method of applying filters and are partial to having an "Apply" button on each filter. I have searched high and low for some explanation as to why it appears for some and not others to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on the matter?

I have a dashboard with multiple bar charts.
I have set each bar chart to work as a filter by selecting 'use as filter'.
I now want to add a "reset all filters" button which impacts chart filters.
I have already:
* added a filter button
* added a filter action
* set the correct source sheets, target sheets & selected fields
When I test I use a chart to filter then press my reset button.
All the charts reset APART from the original one where the chart filter was selected are reset.
I am confused, I thought this would work.
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a solution?
