How are you planning to use VizQL Data Service (VDS)?
If you're anything like me, you've been super excited since TC23 for this feature set to come to fruition! I've thought of so many different things this could unlock, like additional capabilities for bespoke UI/UX experiences, simplified delivery/bursting of data -- the list goes on and on!
I'm super curious to know how others feel though. Do you find VDS exciting? If so, how do you plan to use it in your day-to-day or hobby life once it's in GA?
Hi @Kyle Massey (Member)
One of my customers is considering using VDS for automated QA on the data sources. They used to have OLAP cubes and executed scripts that compared MDX queries to results of SQL on their database, now they'll just replace the MDX with VDS. When it's available...

I do most of my work in R and the ability to pull data programmatically from a published data source via REST API would be really helpful. Been waiting for something like this for a while now. Will API users be able to pull data from a data source that is published as an extract on Tableau Cloud?
What is the ETA for this API?
This might sound like heresy - but would you be able to connect Power BI to VDS?
I'm trying to figure out how to get additional data from Tableau Cloud that isn't included in the OOB Admin Insights. Metadata tags (what tags are being used, by what, how often) and understanding what workbooks are using certified data sources (or rather, what percent of workbooks are using certified data sources)
