How to import custom geocoding (Windows and Mac-with-VM)

    Tableau ships with detailed boundary data for the US & Canada, but relatively little detail for the rest of the world.  For a while it's been possible to import custom geocoding from shapefiles, using Richard Leeke's TabGeoHack, as described at


    Unfortunately for Mac users, that utility is currently Windows-only.  However, I figured out how to run it in a hosted Windows virtual machine, and have it import the geocoding to the copy of Tableau that's running natively on the Mac.  This means that we don't need to stay in the VM to use Tableau.  Full instructions here:
