Tableau Server DAAP (Database All-Access Pass)

Version 8

While this will work for all versions it is no longer necessary for versions 8.2.5 and higher

As of version 8.2.5 access can easily be granted to all tables.  Please reference the Administrator Guide, Create Custom Administrative Views, on how to set up and use "readonly" user access.  This will now do what DAAP allowed, thus making DAAP no longer necessary (yeay!).

    Some notes:

-This is unsupported by Tableau Software so use this at your own risk!!

-You will be able to write to the tables!  This is a huge negative and you shouldn't do it.  Period.  If you write to your server db and screw something up then every Tableau admin will laugh at you with impunity and you'll take your punishment like a wo/man

-This is unsupported by Tableau Software so use this at your own risk!!

-This is new territory so we don't know what every column means in every table.  When you figure it out please let us know.  Don't expect help from Tableau because -- say it with me kids -- this is unsupported by Tableau Software so use this at your own risk!!

    - Updated 13Dec2013:  I've included a method to allow a safer, READ-ONLY access to the db.  Credit goes to Kenneth Kaprielian.
