In the coming weeks Tableau Online will become fully Hyper. This means that all extract files on Tableau Online will be converted to .hyper files. We’re making this move because we want all our customers to take full advantage of all that Hyper offers, like faster extract performance.
What will happen during this conversion?
From our side, we’ll convert your extracts from .tde files to .hyper files. During this process, you shouldn’t notice any differences in performance or availability. The most important thing to know is that once an extract is converted to a .hyper file, versions of desktop older than 10.5 will be unable to download and open workbooks that have hyper extracts.
What should I do to be ready for the Hyper conversion?
- First, make sure that the copies of Tableau Desktop that your company uses to download or publish workbooks to Tableau Online have been upgraded to Tableau 10.5 or later.
- If you use Tableau Bridge, your version of Tableau Bridge has also been updated to Tableau 10.5 or later.
And that’s it! Soon you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of a full Hyper experience. For more information about this update or other changes coming to Tableau Online, visit our Tableau Online upgrade page.
