Working in healthcare most of our data is captured through human interactions and entered via clinicians and administrators; given the pressure front line services face during their day to day work it is no surprise that data entry is prone to human error and mistakes. These mistakes can lead to poor data quality within organisations, that if left unvalidated, can undermine analysis and lead to decisions being made based upon unreliable data.
Within my organisation we have used Tableau Server to empower clinicians and administrators to gain direct access to their own data quality and performance reports; this approach has led to sustained improvements in data quality with minimal input from managers or team leaders.
My latest blog post shares some common causes of poor data quality and some Tableau techniques that you can take to support your workforce to achieve better quality data.
