SCALING TABLEAU (3/10) – USE PUBLISHED DATA SOURCES

Version 1

    Published Data Sources are

    • Reusable: When you prep your data or add calculations,  these changes are all captured in your data source that can be published for other Desktop users or Web Editing users to conduct their own analysis.
    • Single source of truth (SSoT): You can have data steward to define the data model and workbook publishers to consume the publish data source for analysis.  One published data source can have many connected workbook to achieve SSoT. Any changes to published data sources will be applied to all connected workbooks automatically.
    • Less workload to EDW: When you use extracts , one refresh task of the published data source will refresh all connected workbooks, which reduces a lot workloads to your EDW (comparing each workbook has its embedded extracts). This can be a very big deal to your EDW
