Sort does not work in the Use Filter but works in legend

I am having the hardest time making this work. I have a recordset that has a rewarddate field that is string and then another field Reward that is in date format. I add it to my workbook and want to add a use filter so that the user can filter on the rewards they want to see in the graph.

Well, I click on the rewarddate field and select sort on Fields by Rewards and then minimum so that it sorts correctly in date format but using my field rewarddate. But, when I add this to the use filter, it does not sort correctly in date format but in alphabetical order which looks wrong. Why do they not sync up and sort correctly when i'm using the same field both for color legend and use filter. Please help somebody. I've attached workbook of it. Thanks!
