Question about Filtering options(Applied to a Filled Map)

I followed Display data for regions instead of countries on world map and filled maps with user defined regions advices to draw my regional map(using a geocodes file by defining my region and its' corresponding countries' lat and lon) and labelled with regional data(another file that stored my regional data).

After hours of trial and errors, i finally did it..pls see pic below.

Q1. However, i'm not sure is it becoz I am using regional data vs countries geocodes, when i use a filter from a variable from my data file(where the regional data locates, no geocodes) , a "Null" option appears, can someone guide me how to make it disappear?

Q2.And also, when i try to create another worksheet with a crosstab purely based on the "data" only, the filtering using same variable as i have for this map, i.e. "year", it does not work for both worksheet...not sure what happen..:p
