Plotting custom median and connecting the marks

Hi,

I'm tearing my hair with this thing. I'm basically plotting the progress of a median over time. Getting the median up there is not a problem, but I can't get the marks to connect to each other. The "compute using" dimension called Duration sits on the Level of Detail shelf.

A simple line chart connects way too many marks, Using a set in the Path shelf as in http://www.tableausoftware.com/support/forum/topic/connect-marks-when-graphing-set results in no lines at all, just points. Putting the Duration up to the Pages shelf instead of LoD surprisingly looks OK, but that doesn't really make sense. I've tried different sorts for the Path shelf.
