Unknown function RAWSQL_STR

Hi,

I'm trying to create a calculated field that looks up a value from a secondary data source. I use the following line for the function:

RAWSQL_STR("SELECT [Data Item] FROM [AnnSurv2012Enum (BRFS2012)] WHERE [Data Element Name]='_STATE' AND [Lower Bound]=%1",[BRFS2012 (BRFS2012)].[_State])

But it says "Unknown function RAWSQL_STR called". This appears to be the correct name and syntax from the help doc. Any suggestions?

In my primary table I have a column called _STATE. Each cell in that column contains an integer which is a reference to a cell in a secondary table. In the secondary table there is a column called DATA ELEMENT NAME. Some of the cells in that column have value _STATE. Another column in the secondary table is called LOWER BOUND and another is called DATA ITEM. The LOWER BOUND cell contains the reference integer from the primary table. The DATA ITEM cell contains the name of the State. For example, LOWER BOUND value of 1 maps to DATA ITEM value of Alabama. 2 maps to Alaska, etc.

So how do I get Tableau to pull Alabama when it sees a 1 in a cell of the _STATE column?

If it were SQL it would be something like this:

Select 'DATA ITEM' from secondary_table where 'DATA ELEMENT NAME'='_STATE' AND 'LOWER BOUND'=passed_value
