odbc connection to vertica in windows 7 64bit

i tried connecting to vertica database from tableau desktop choosing the vertica connection settings. But it resulted in

The drivers necessary to connect to this database server are not properly installed. You may visit http://www.tableausoftware.com/drivers to download driver setup files.

Database error 0x80004005: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Unable to connect to the server "ec2-50-16-9-94.compute-1.amazonaws.com". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

I have already installed vertica odbc drivers and created a dsn successfully and tested the connection to be successfull.

Also from tableau tried connecting to vertica using other odbc datasources option and filled in the dsn name. But resulted in

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application

Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Any ideas why it didnt work even after creating a DSN successfully ?
