Refresh on tableau server to default to recent date

Hello All,

I have published my dashboard to the Tableau server and it refreshes the extract on a daily basis.After refreshing the extract the period filter which is a single value drop down has old value of date (String in my case) by default .On refresh i need the period filter to show most recent date so that when the user clicks on the dashboard he is presented with most recent values.

Any help in creating dynamic parameters to solve this issue or any other suggestions to show the period filter to default to the most recent without using additional filters would be appreciated...
