Why is Tableau 8.1 is showing a NULL record out of rank order in a Top n table

I have only been using Tableau for a few months so I am still battling the learning curve.

If anyone has any advice regarding this issue I would be very appreciative.

The data is client confidential so I am unable to make the Tableau Workbook public without making significant modifications prior.

Link is to to screen shots of examples of Top 3, and Top 5 in the probability my explanation is somewhat difficult to piece together.

http://imgur.com/a/ZUd5C

I am showing a Top 10 list of Products by Sales (out of a total of several thousand Products over several million item lines).

Instead of getting the ACTUAL Top 10 as I would expect, I seem to be getting the Top 9 in addition to the SUM of NULL Product Codes as the 10th rank on the list.

The issue is the SUM value of these NULLS does not put it anywhere near 10th rank and instead should be several hundred ranks further down the list.

The NULL record appears at the bottom of the list regardless of the Top n specified.

If I simply right-click and exclude the NULLS from the table then I only get the Top n-1 (e.g. Top 9 instead of desired Top 10).

The only method that appears to work is to go to the ‘General’ tab on the Filter and specify ‘Select from List’ and exclude the NULL that way – but that seems an unnecessary hassle for something so simple.

Am I correct in thinking that this is unusual behaviour or am I simply missing something obvious?

Thanks
