several calculated field call same R function. Will the R function be executed multiple times?

For example, in the popular Iris clustering example Tableau 8.1 and R | Tableau Software,

there are four calculated field, ClusterCenters_PealLength, ClusterCenters_PetalWidth, Clusters, TotalSumofSquares. They all call same Kmeans in R, I am wondering how many times will Kmeans be executed during the dashboarding. Also, whey do we need.ClusterCenters_PealLength, ClusterCenters_PetalWidth, TotalSumofSquares to visualize the results? After removing them, the dashboard did not change.
