How to count all records on a table that exists before each record's date

Hi All,

I'm trying to count the number of records in a subset of a table that exists before each record's date. See below for an example:

Sector Record # Date # of Prior Records (this is the column I want to be able to calculate)

Auto 1 July 2010 0

2 Sept 2011 1

3 Nov 2012 2

Banking 4 Aug 2010 0

5 Nov 2011 1

If anyone knows how to calculate this field (# of prior records), your help would be greatly appreciated.

Help with Linking Tables

Hello,

I have two tables that I am trying to link / combine. These two tables have numerous columns of overlapping data. Table 1 is huge and has a unique identifier on each row. Table 2 is fairly small with each row having a unique identifier that corresponds to a row in Table 1. I've read numerous articles about editing connections and joining / blending data but I'm not sure how to proceed. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.
