check that your server is running

I'm using Tableau Public 8.1. When I try to connect to my data I receive the following warning:

"Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database."

What should I do in this case?

I'm trying to show enrollment in college across time...my data set looks like this:

university zip 1998 1999 2000...etc

UNC 27695 200 365 400

I'd like to be able to filter data by year on the same map and not to create a map for each year

suggestions much appreciated
