Calculation of some between hours.

Hello Tableau community,

i have a question concerning building sums.

I build a table which shows the hours of a date time dimension and then the number of records in each hour.

I would really like to visualize know the amount of the number of records regarding shifts. that means:

shift 1 (6-14): 36

shift 2 (15-22): 92

and so on.

is this possible to calculate and visualize?

because the total sum shows me the sum of all number of records concerning building. I just need the numbers within shift.

If-calculation with datetime

Hello tableau community,

i have a question concerning a dashboard. I would like to create a dashboard which shows if a delivery is on time or not like in the picture below.

I am pretty new in tableau and dont know if this is possible. I wanted to try it with a if calculation to show if my real time (datetime) is in the scheduled window time (datetime).

Check Out Time is here the real time and the truck arrival and truck depart are the scheduled window times. I want to show that the check out time is within the schedule window time and this in colors, green for on time, red for late.

Is this possible to use a if calculation for this?

I didnt figure out yet how to create such quaters (green,red). Does anybody knows here how to do it?

Hello tableau community.

i was wondering if its possible to create a dashboard which shows always the same data like truck arrival, carrier, supplier and actualize the colors when the times will be actualized.

All the yellow topics and the information above should be static. And then the coloring should be added after each refreshing. Is that possible in Tableau?

Because right now i just have it for one when it already happened. But i wanted to visualize all which should come. And then it should actualize it in the specific color... like in the picture in the top.

Is there any possibility to make it static and let it then refreshing?

static/dynamic dashboard- possibilities?

Hello Tableau Community,

I am not that familiar with Tableau and a real beginner.

My task is to create a dashboard for warehouses which shows us the upcoming deliveries for the day (static somehow) and the status when the delivery came in (time) which should be than added us colored.

I got the information after updating each hour. But then it just appears the deliveries which already came in.

Is there a possibility to show the upcoming deliveries for the day in the beginning and then just update the status? Is that possible with tableau?

The deliveries are mentioned in the excel file on which days they should come and at what time.

But I don't know if tableau can make that happen.

I would really appreciate if you could help me out in this issue

Same Size of columns in dashboard?

Hello community.

i have a question concerning the size of the columns.

i created a dashboard with three different worksheets. See picture below.

Is there the possibility to set up the size of each status column that they will be the same size. because right now they are not. and this doesnt look nice. I created first a vertical sheet and put the sheets then into it. But now the sizes of the "measure" columns (Status) are different bright.

Do you know how i can make it that they will be equal? The status column is created by

Filter to show time shifts

Hello everybody,

happy new year to you all!

I have a question concerning filters.

I summarized all delivered pallets in one visualization. Now i wanted to ask if there is the possibility to make a filter for 1st shift, 2nd shift, 3rd shift. I did it with an hour filter of the process: DATETRUNC('hour',[Date&Time Putaway]) that you can select each shift.

For example to see what happened in the first shift i will select Hour (8,9,10,11).

I would like to visualize how much time it took from the whole process when you selected all hour(process) and color it that you can see directly in the summary what happened in the first shift, second shift, etc. Is it possible to create something like this?

For example the 945 minutes on the 25th. i wanted to show which time happened in the first shift, what in the second.

if i make it with the hour filter i just see how long it takes in the first shift, but have no comparison to the total day.

Hope its kind of understandable what i mean.

Substract just the time and not the date at the same time

Hello together,

i have an issue concerning my datetime values. I get the datetime in german time that means i have to convert them into us time.

The delivery timestamp is on the 1/11/2018 8:59:31 PM

when i put the material into the system i receive the german time which means it adds 6 hours to my original timestamp. The timestamp in the system is then 1/11/2018 3:41:15 AM. If i substract then the 6 hours to the US time. It goes back to the day before because its in the night AM. See picture below.

i create a calculated field to substract 6hours from the date&time receiving from the system value: DateAdd('hour', -6, [Date&Time Receiving]) but it goes back then to the day before.

Is there any possiibility to avoid that? Is it possiblle to keep the date and to substract just the hour without affecting the date?

Grand total manually not with drag&drop

i have a question if its possible to create a grand total who counts the number of "pallets" in my case number of GR number automatically and visualize it. Right now i go through it and count for each RouteNo and each day the GR Number and compare it then with the different numbers of the storage types.

In the test workbookx which is attached, you can find a overview sheet where all received GRnumber per Check out time and RouteNo. Here i have to count all the GR Number for each day and each RouteNo. Is there any possibility to calculate it manually that i just have to look there and see directly the total amount of that.

I have one sheet which tells me the amount of received paletts, which shows us the source storage type 902 and dest storage type 423 &424. You can see it in sheet Overview Data.

And then the put away sheet, which is expressed by source storage type 423 to dest.storage type 421.Now i wanted to visualize how many of the received paletts from sheet one are already put away. Is there any possibility to visualize it directly. From X received paletts there are X palets in storage type 421. Also regarding the RouteNo and maybe the day but it can happen that the Date&Time P is one day later...

I dont know how to visualize it and if its even possible in tableau.

I created a visualization which tells me the sum of pallets per day and Route. I try to make some analysis concerning:

- quantity of pallets vs putaway time

- pallets per hour

- Quantity of pallets by shift

- Putaway time by carrier

But i dont know how to visualize it or make it in Tableau. Is there anybody who could help me out in this? I really want to try it in Tableau and not via Excel which i have to do manually and it doesnt look nice. I am really new in tableau thats why i try to find help here. I really would like to create a visualization for analysing the process.

Joining two tables concerning the first 7 letters.

Hello everybody,

i want to join two tables. There is sometimes the problem that people has some difficulties to put the string in the right way or add something which is not necessary and when i want to join then the tables its not possible anymore.

For example:

in the System is written Concept Packaging and the people put in the excel just Concept Packagin. Or in the excel is written AD405 v1 and the person put into the system AD405V1 or ADAPCH413 and then in the system will be put ADAPCH413V4. Thats why i try to figure out if there is the possibility to join them regarding a comparison of the letters if they are the same.

I tried it with replace("[name]"," ","") that worked within the space between those numbers but now i have the problem with the whole word.

Maybe there is the possibility that i can just compare the first 6/7 letters.

The joint is not 100% possible. Thats why i wanted to ask if there is a Calculation field which compares just the first 6 letters for example.

Six Sigma with Tableau regarding datetime

Hey Tableau Community,

i have a question. I would like to measure the deliverys per week/month for example. And i thought about to visualize it in a Six Sigma diagramm. If there are 15 min too early or to late, then 30 min earlier or later and so long. 100% is on time.

The Truck Departure is scheduled for each Route ID and each day in my Excel file.

But i am not sure if this is possible in Tableau to make it with datetimes and even if its possible to visualize something like this in tableau?

There are several datetimes which are possible in my excel file. For the deliverys there is a driver kiosk in usage where the truck driver has to sign in when he arrives and check out when he leaves. There is a forced check in/out if he is too early/late.

The scheduled window times are as truck arrival and truck depart in the excel file and therefore there are just times available.It creates a default datetime value. AD405 V1 for example has 4:15 pm as a schedule for departure (see sheet 1 or picture ).

Check In time (arriving)

Check Out time (leaving) <- important here.

Now i wanted to make the histogramm to see if the real departure (check out time) is on time (in the scheduled time), 15 min too late/earlier, 30 min too late/earlier and so on. Is there the possibility to visualize it in percentage how many came on time/delay per week/.month?

For example:

I dont know what makes more sense and if its even possible to make it with percentage?!

Three Sheets in a dashboard on the same level, also when information missing

Hello Tableau Community,

i try to visualize a receiving dashboard. i put three sheets together.

The Problem now is that when a time is missing then i have the problem that it doesnt show up in the third sheet because there is no time. Now i wanted to know if there is the possibility that the carrier and Supplier are fixed or if we can connect them together even there is a informtion missing. Please find the picture below.

The first supplier is in the third sheet missing so there is no information. The sheet starts with the second supplier directly but this should be in the second row for the second supplier. (all times blue)

Do you have an idea how i could make it? Thanks in advance!!

Duration between same Timestamp filtering by destination storage

Hello Everybody,

i have an issue. I have two timestamps. One with which my clock starts (check out time) and then the put away time stamp. Here we have different source types and destination types. For example 902, 423, 421.

Is there the possibility to calculate the time which is between the storage types 902 and 423 and the other one 423 to 421?

Its all from one timestamp. The changing types are the storage types.

Could anybody help me out in this issue?

Calculation of percentage of a week with True/False (number of records)

Hello Tableau Community,

i wanted to visualize how many did the check in and check out during a week.

I tried it with the grand total function but that doesnt work.

The Sign In should be the date as filter for the week.

And then i wanted to know how many did the check in/out and how many did not. And this summarize of the week. I know its Number of Records(check in =True)/Sum(number of records) but that doesnt work how i tried it.

Does anybdy has an idea how it works for Boolean??

For example:

Route ID AD405 v1 came 6 times the previous week. They have to check in when they arrive and check out when they leave. There is the possibility that they check in but forgot to check out thats why they will forced check out at 0.00am when the next day start. Then it would be as Check In "true" Forced check in "false" and the Check out "false" but the forced check out "true".

The driver checked in 4 times and 2 times not. And he came on time so there is no forced check in needed.

Now i wanted to know the percentage of this week. Is there any possibility?

Also for the Check Out:

But here the total is too 6.

I tried to visualize it together in one sheet but this didnt work out.

Maybe there is a possibility to show this in a coordinate system. I am really openminded concerning visualization ideas.

I am new in Tableau thats why i search for support and help here in this community.

Clock which actualize automatically like the date with today()

i was thinking to put a clock in my dashboard. I found out that you can put the actual date with the today() function into a dashboard.

Does anybody know if there is also a possibility for a clock? like hh:mm:ss ??

Hey everybody,

i have a question. Is there the possibility to change the output of a duration in hh:mm:ss. Because right now i get the duration time in minutes with this calculation:

FLOAT(datediff('minute', [Date&Time R - 6h],[Date&Time P]))

And sometimes there are times of 923 minutes and then you have to calculate first how long it took.(sheet 2)

Is there any possibility to show the minutes in this format dd:hh:mm:ss?

Color Coding doesnt work 100%

Hello together,

i have a question concerning coloring.

I want to visualize if a supplier came to earlier, on time or delayed. See picture below.

i made several calculation field to get the maximum of the putaway time, to get the coloring.

The maximum of time i received with this calculation field (max date&time Putaway):

{ FIXED [Check Out Time], [Carrier], [Supplier], [Dest. Bin Typ], [Source Bin Typ] : Max([Date&Time Putaway])}

to get the coloring i built first this (minute value Putaway)

DATEDIFF('minute',date([max date&time Putaway]),([max date&time Putaway]))

and then i put it into the color coding this calculation:

If [minute value Putaway] < [minute value Putaway End] and [minute value Putaway] > [minute value Putaway Start] Then 'On time'

ELSEIF [minute value Putaway] < [minute value arrival] Then 'Earlier'

else 'Red' end

Unfortunately it just worked in two cases which you can see in the picture on the top. There are 6 more which should be blue because it was earlier.

I dont know why it doesnt work.

Does anybody has an idea whats wrong with my calculation fields?

Visualization of colored values concerning True/False

Hey Tableau Community,

i want to visualize the tracking of the delivery of suppliers.

I want to automatize the evaluation. This is what i do now in excel. I count the total number of deliverys. Then i filter for the check in (false) to count the amount and then i filter the check out (false) to count the amount. Afterwards i put the numbers in the table.

For example For Building 1 its 9 from 10 are wrong for check in and 10 of 10 for check out are wrong.

I guess Tableau can be very helpful for this.

First i filtered by the days (for one week) because we do it for each week.

The check in & check outs are boolean. thats the reason why I counted the true and false of both (check in & check out) with Count(number of records).

The total number of deliverys, i calculated with Total(SUM([Number of Records])) which also worked but unfortunately it changes when i change the filters of checked in/ checked out. I would like that the total delivery number is always the same for the week. (1st problem)

The Count(number of records) gives me also a wrong output.

It says for Buidling 1:

Check in (True) & check out (false) = 1

Check in (false) & check out (false) = 9

Normally it should show me: Check out (false) = 10 and Check in (false) = 9. (please see pictures)

For the percentage i used (Count([Number of Records])/([Total Delivery's])) and for the coloring

If [percentage] < 75.00 then "red"

ELSEIF [percentage] > 75.00 then "yellow"

ELSEIF [percentage] = 100.00 then "green"

END

And unfortunately it does not work. I cant find the failure. Maybe it does not work with Tableau??

Could anybody help me out in this issue and explain to me what i do wrong?

Excel File joining with SQL Database

Hello Everybody,

i have a question concerning connecting an Excelfile with an SQL Database. I wanted to join them with an inner join.

The colomns which are in the SQL Database will be shown as STRING in Tableau.

The Excelfile has different formats like Datetime, date, String, Numbers.

Now, I wanted connect both of them with an inner join regarding the date.

In the SQL database is it under BUDAT and will be listed in Tableau for example as 20170901

In my Excel file it will be shown as Check Out Time and in datetime format like 9/1/2017 17:13.

I wanted to join them now and i tried it with this "edit join calculation" and following calculation

STR(DATEPART('year',[Check Out Time])) + STR(DATEPART('month',[Check Out Time])) + STR(DATEPART('day',[Check Out Time]))

But this didnt work. I guess because of the different format in the excel file. The format here is m/d/yyyy h:mm. Is there any possibility to put the format mmddyyyy into the "edit join calculation"?

I want to minimize the effort without changing first the excel file.... It should work directly.

calculating amount of datetimes

Hey everybody.

i am pretty new in using tableau.

I wanted to ask if there is the possibility to calculate the amount of the dates concerning Date&Time P.

I have several Routes and several Begin.

Thats the reason why i tried it with { FIXED [Begin] : COUNT([Date&Time P])}. Unfortunately, it counts wrong. i have no idea what the number means. Normally it should say that there are 28 for this day.

Is there anybody who could help me out in this issue? Thanks in advance!!

Time value between two time values

Hello everybody.

i wanted to create a dashboard which shows me if my "real" time which is taken between two scheduled time stamps is and to show then if its green or red.

The scheduled time stamps were first as datetime in tableau visualized (12/30/1899 08:00:00 AM) then i created with a calculated field just a time stamp (08:00) which is now a string.

For example:

Scheduled time start(string): 08:00

Scheduled time end (string): 08:45

Real time stamp (string): 081811

This shows us that the real time stamp is between the scheduled time stamps.... Thats the reason why it should shown as green otherwise it should be red.

Could anybody help me in this issue?

Is it possible two visualize something like this in tableau?

Counting doubles instead of single MBLNR

Hello everybody.

i am pretty new in visualization with Tableau and want to visualize the total number of MBLNR (500*) for each ID (AD405V3) and then filter after different days.

I have an example for you. For the 9/20/2017, there are in total 6 MBLNR. But when i tried to count the numbers of MBLNR for the ID (AD405V3) with the function COUNTD. It just give me the number of 3 back.

I guess its because of the various numbers, in total 3. But from 5008226726 there are in total 4.

CountD(MBLNR):

But i want to have the total number of MBLNR. This should be 6. I tried all and looked it up here in the forum but i couldnt find anything. It would be very nice if somebody could help me out in this issue.
