parameter for switching between day and week view in a dashboard

Hello, I'm trying to create a parameter so a user can switch between a day or week view in a dashboard. I'm using an area graph to display trending data. I would like a single value list to be displayed in the dashboard so a user can select either day or week and this will update the area graph. It seems like you would use a case statement in a calculated field, but I don't understand how to incorperate that into the graph and dashboard.
