How can I visualize two line graphs based on two different date fields in one chart?

Hi,

I'm trying to create a line graph with two lines - one line showing # of service desk tickets created by month (based on create date), the other showing # of completed and resolved service desk tickets by month (based on last activity date). I would need to apply different filters (for ticket status) for both KPIs, as well as I would need the one line displayed based on create date, the other one based on last activity date.

Sample data:

Ticket# | Date Created | Last Activity Date | Status

0001 | 01/01/2012 | 02/01/2012 | Complete

0002 | 01/10/2012 | 03/05/2012 | Work in Progress

0003 | 02/04/2012 | 05/05/2012 | Complete

Ideally I would like to create a graph that shows me a line for created tickets (0001,0002 in Jan, 0003 in Feb) and a line for completed tickets (0001 in Feb, 0003 in May).

I hope that makes sense.

Drill through to external applications?

Hi,

Is it possible to use URL actions (or another feature) to pass parameters to an external application? For example I have a service desk report in Tableau which shows me some basic ticket. Now I would like to see all the details for a specific ticket, but in the source app - is there a way to configure such a drill through e.g. when I click on the ticket number?

How to lookup attributes (names) from a master data table?

Hi experts,

I am trying to lookup employee names from a master data table to be populated in a report that is driven off a transactional type table. The latter has the following structure:

Table 1 (Tickets):

Ticket ID | Creator ID | Assigned to ID

1001 | 1 | 2

The master data table has the below structure

Table 2 (Resource)

Resource ID | Name

1 | James

2 | Olivia

I defined two left joins table1.assigned_id = table2.resource_id, and table1.creator_id = table2.resource_id. In the report I would like to display the below (ticket ID, name creator, name assigned to), but I'm stuck.

Ticket ID | Resource.Name (Creator) | Resource.Name (Assigend to)

1001 | James | Olivia

I can display the IDs since they sit in table1, but can't replace the IDs with the names. This is a simple lookup, but I might miss something - and I need to mention that I'm new to Tableau.

Due Date Analysis - How to setup a dynamic date filter with an interval from: Today-90 days to: Today +5 days?

I'm working on a due date analysis report and would like to get data within a specific interval, depending on the report key date (execution) - How would I go about setting up a date filter to span From: Today-90 days To: Today +5 days?
