Alyssa Rong Jun 19, 2019 9:30 AM (in response to Ken Flerlage)Hey Ken,
Thanks!!! This is quite amazing! I'm new to tableau and still learning and improving. Can you kindly elaborate more on how this detail mark works?
Thanks, I will mark this as correct answer and close the question.

5. Re: Sorting segments with stacked bars by value breaking the filter
Ken Flerlage Jun 19, 2019 10:54 AM (in response to Alyssa Rong)1 of 1 people found this helpfulThe detail card defines your level of detail. So, for example, if I have a bar chart like this:
The level of detail for this is Region so we only have one "mark" (in this case, a bar) for each region.
But, if we drop State on Detail, it will change the level of detail to Region/State and will break each bar up by State.
You can see it more clearly if I also color by State.
That, at a high level, is what the Detail card does. But other things, such as what's on Rows and Columns and what's on Color, also define your level of detail (not just the Detail card). In the case above, the problem is that your viz-in-tooltip was trying to filter on ATTR(Region), which it can't do, so by dropping Region on the detail card, I made region available for filtering. Hope that helps a bit.

Alyssa Rong Jun 19, 2019 11:36 AM (in response to Ken Flerlage)Thanks for your detailed explanation Ken! So although the region was a layer of LOD but it wasn't available and specifically defined as detail. Dragging it to the detail mark basically specify that this is also a level of detail. Got you! This is very helpful !!! Appreciated!
