its helpful, and thank you ... but .... Why to different paths (i.e. the
10.x path and the yyyy.x path) ... it's confusing, at least to me

I think it might be easier for people to understand when the current version release by reading the version name.

Hi Tim, the naming convention was changed after "10", and it started going by 'year/version'.
So by that I mean...
- 2018.1
- 2018.2
- 2018.3
- 2019.1
- 2019.2
Each new release brings new features. To understand the version differences, the Releases page provided by ZZ is a good place to start. The releases notes are linked below..

Check out the release notes regularly and follow Tableau on Twitter, etc.
