# How Do I Calculate Daily Average in a Month

 Name Date Time Donuts Eaten Steve 01-Jan 12:20:00 PM 5 Steve 02-Jan 12:00:00 PM 3 Steve 02-Jan 2:30:00 PM 2 Steve 03-Jan 12:05:00 PM 4 Steve 03-Jan 1:35:00 PM 1 Gary 01-Jan 1:35:00 PM 5 Gary 02-Jan 12:00:00 PM 5 Gary 03-Jan 1:00:00 PM 1 Gary 03-Jan 1:05:00 PM 1 Gary 03-Jan 1:10:00 PM 3

how do i show the average donuts eaten per day - based on the date level and not the time

if i do an average at the moment it averages all  lines - avg is 3

but i want it by date - so the answer should be 5

is there a way to automatically group the dates ? i dont know

help!!

Hi, Alistair

Try this,

{fixed [Date]:sum([Donuts Eaten])}

And when you drag it to your view, use avg as aggregation

or

Avg({fixed [Date]:sum([Donuts Eaten])})

ZZ

but i need to break down by name as well

Then use

Avg({fixed [Name],[Date]:sum([Donuts Eaten])})
