I would use tool tip and then place a secondary sheet in the tooltip
I would use sets and set actions but trying to come up with a solution without seeing how the data is structured and applied to the view is difficult
As Jim said kindly attach a sample workbook.
Mean while check this link how to edit the tooltips.
If it helps. Plz mark this answer as correct or helpful to close the thread
So, the problem here isn't that I need to actually display more data (say, in a tooltip) but that I want to make sure if someone uses the selection tool it doesn't display unwanted or confusing text. Take this public example:
Click on the "map view" and then use the rectangular selection tool to highlight a part of the map. A little summary box pops up that says how many items are selected and then gives a SUM(DisplayValue_GWh): [Value]. I want to know how to edit the text that appears in this kind of box. I'm showing another screen shot of what happens when you make such a selection.

Elena is not asking about TOOLTIPS, she is asking about the SELECTION TOOL.
I too would like to be able to format the Selection Tool popup the same way I can format the Tooltip.
But more importantly, I want the Selection Tool to work as a filter, triggering changes in charts that accompany a map. For example, if I select five power plants on a map, I want the accompanying bar chart to display data only for those selected plants.
How do I do that?
