    Tableau Server Client: Sign In

    AliceAlice Mok

      1. Sign in Tableau Server by Python

      I learnt that:

      To sign in Tableau Server, call the Auth.sign_in functions like:

      import tableauserverclient as TSC
      tableau_auth = TSC.TableauAuth('USERNAME', 'PASSWORD')
      server = TSC.Server('http://SERVER_URL')
      server.auth.sign_in(tableau_auth)

      the above is sourced from: https://tableau.github.io/server-client-python/docs/sign-in-out

      I want to know what's my username, password and http://SERVER_URL? (the Tableau Server in my computer is defaulted to use Active Directory)

      In Tableau Server Configuration>General, there is a division called Server Run as User:

      Is the user name and password for API same as that of my Window account?

      2. How to get Local Unique Identifiers (LUIDs) for workbooks or datasouurces?

      from the post, https://community.tableau.com/message/415072#415072

      some one said:
      you need to log on with readonly user (tableau is not enough) and use workbooks table and not _workbooks.

      How to do that?

      THANKS~~
