Do you have different dimension fields for 'Names', 'Places', 'Animals' ? Assuming it's a Yes, you will need to create two different parameters. One for the TOP N filter and the other one to select which of those three fields they want to see. You can use your existing parameter called 'noun'. You will have to create a calculated field something like this : if [parameter.noun] = 'Names' then 'yournamefield' elseif [parameter.noun]= 'Place' then 'yourplacefield' else 'youranimalfield' end. Create another parameter for top N which will just be an integer type. Now bring that caluclated field on to the filter shelf and select 'top' tab. Do it by field and select the top N parameter you created.
Let me know if this works.
Yes, they are each dimension with elements under them which can be counted.
So for names, I wanted Top 3 names to be shown based on volume.
for animals top 5 based on volume etc.
When you say top 3 for names and top 5 for animals, are those fixed or do you want them dynamic ?
Then my approach should work. Let me know if it doesn't.
