# How to compare customers with a different start date in the same graph?

Hi Tableau community!

I'm trying to analyze what kind of customer paths we have in terms of sales. For example, I'd like to see how quickly total sales has achieved certain level with different customers. The problem is that customers have different dates when the first sales has happened and therefore I cannot use normal time functions for comparing. My vision is that I have a graph where y-axis shows me the sales in total and x-axis for example months starting from day one (the date of the first order of each customer).

Here is an example of data set where you can find 9 orders from 3 different customers.

Any idea how to sync with different starting dates? In real data I have about 1000 customers.

Hey Arttu,

The key is to create a calculation that returns the number of days since the first deal, which looks like this:

Then you can use that calculation as a dimension, plot the deal values with a running sum, and you get something like this:

Find the workbook attached. It's a flexible viz, it should keep showing useful results if you remove the customer from the LOD, or if you divide the data up into other categories.
