Check that Tableau Desktop is looking for the files in the same folder, sometimes it caches the files in a temp folder.
Checked and it is using UNC path only. I figured it out. I'm assuming that our Tableau Service account should have access to the shared location..right?
Definitely, if Tableau can't see the file it can't refresh it
Can I ask some questions about your set up?
Does your network folder or shared file has a read and write access?
Did you just access the shared folder by using full path? like \\FileServer\shared folder?
Are you using computer name or static ip address when access that shared path?
Are you using active directory set up? or domain setup? like your pc is a member of
contoso.co.uk for example?
Does your account that you use or saved as a main account for Tableau Server has an access also to the shared folder?
If there is an error, what error has been shown?
