It seems to me that the best option here would be either 2 or 3. If you are filtering out dates or categories that would otherwise include your missing buckets, option 2 is a great option. If not, try utilizing the ZN function to replace the nulls with zeros. If you post a sample work book, I can mess around with it as well.
