• ###### 1. Re: Average quantity per order

Set the default aggregation to AVG, or change to AVG after you add it to the sheet

• ###### 2. Re: Average quantity per order

I don't understand

See image & attached:

• ###### 4. Re: Average quantity per order

{AVG(Transaction)}

• ###### 5. Re: Average quantity per order

I wouldn't use an LOD though, there's no real need in this case.

• ###### 6. Re: Average quantity per order

All your doing is taking the average of transaction value. I'm saying that there are multiple rows with the same transaction ID. In your example, transaction is a value; in mine, it's a transaction identifier with a unit value attached.

• ###### 7. Re: Average quantity per order

Alex Martino, based on what you've posted so far, how do we know that you have a unit value when you've only ever mentioned transaction ID.

What's wrong with taking what I've done and applying it to the unit value rather than the transaction ID ?

• ###### 8. Re: Average quantity per order

I mentioned it above no? Transaction with quantity for each transaction #. Perhaps it wasn't clear.  I need to see the averages at the transaction level, even if there are multiple rows for each transaction. Average quantity per overall transactions.

Transaction 1 Quantity 4

Transaction 1 Quantity 3

Transaction 1 Quantity 1

Transaction 2 Quantity 3

• ###### 9. Re: Average quantity per order

The answer is basically the same though ... .

• ###### 10. Re: Average quantity per order

I see but I'm looking for the overall number, not by transaction. It would be the average of the numbers you have above.

• ###### 11. Re: Average quantity per order

Sorry, you have the average, when it should be the sum of each transaction. And then the average of all the transactions.

• ###### 12. Re: Average quantity per order

Sorry Alex, I can't keep up with the changing requirements all the time

Yesterday you said " I need to see the averages at the transaction level" and now you say " I'm looking for the overall number, not by transaction"

- Supply some dummy data (in XLS or CSV format)

- Explain the problem that you're trying to solve

- Hopefully provide the "expected result" as well, just in case there's something missing in the explanation

- Credit the people that are replying by clicking "like" or "this helped me"

To get a response quickly, you should always be doing the top 2 things and hopefully the third one as well.

• ###### 13. Re: Average quantity per order

Yeah, the requirements didn't really change but my explanation just wan't good enough.

The correct answer should be 13.9 average quantity per transaction. I've attached a spreadsheet where it's showing the average is 10.69 which is wrong.  Thanks!
