    Custom Filter in Tableau

    Vamsi Immadisetty

Hi I would like to create custom filter on text column in Tableau. I have a table with text item BUREFERENCE with multiple text items separated by comma in each row. I wanted to create a pie/bar chart to depict how many different units are there by a filter.  I am aware of how many units are there (DC, EPAY, FRS, FINANCE....). So I wanted to create a custom filter with these values and apply on the data.

      BUREFERENCE:

      DIVISION
      DC,EPAY,FRS
      EPAY,FRS,FINANCE
      FINANCE,DC,BILLER
      BILLER,EPAY
      FINANCE,FRS,CUS
      CUS,EPAY
      FRS,BILLER,EPAY
      DC,FINANCE,FRS
      BILLER,DC,BANKSOL
      BANKSOL,EPAY,DC

What I wanted to achieve is below.

When I select DC in filter all charts show data with respect to DC then the chart should populate number 5 which is count of all rows in table which are having DC in it. If I select FRS then it should return 5 and if I select EPAY then it should return 4

I try to import two tables as two individual data sources but still not able to connect both with no common column

Please advise me how to achieve this.

      Sincerely,

      Vamsi
