you had 2 errors
and the formula is start date to end date - see below
take the min instead of sum and it returns

Thanks. But what do you mean summing across all records ? Shouldnt datediff be used this way ?

i found out why min works !!
that is because for each order date, there were multiple orders being made hence it is summing up all those difference in years which explains the huge number. thank you once again !
