Yes, i have connected Intacct to Tableau. We purchased a Generic ODBC connection from a 3rd party to connect Intacct to Tableau. It required some setup to know exactly what you what to import/join/display but we got there.
Glad to hear you found a solution!
Which 3rd party ODBC connection did you purchase?
I've been looking at CData, which comes up frequently in Google searches.
You're right, there seems to be some setup involved, primarily on the Intacct side.

Yes we use Cdata. They have a suite of connectors you can buy with Generic ODBC connection to Intacct. Intacct, in and of itself, requires a little know-how to navigate as well as setup time investment. Outside of that, it takes a little time to understand the exact data model of the database and what you want to achieve in Tableau. We ended up having 200+ tables that we had access to but we were able to generate all the relevant information we needed from a two table join. This did take some trial and error.
Interesting. I had a similar experience on a different project. Many tables reduced to joining a handful to get what we needed.
How many man hours was needed to set things up? Did you end up going with the $599 yearly subscription for Cdata?
Really appreciate your help!
Yeah the $599 yearly for all the connectors is clearly better. We handle a number of different data sources so while we did not explicitly have a need for anything besides Intacct at the moment, there was bound to be a situation where another connector would be useful.
A lot of the tables ended up being meta data or meta data related and internally used by Intacct so they were blank. But there were some similar tables that were not immediately clear which would be most useful to use. I would say it took about 40-50 man (mostly me) hours to get it up and running. It could be easier for you as I was juggling a number of different things at the time so my attention was split during the process.
Thank you so much. This is very helpful!
How were you able to clearly identify the tables. We have Intacct and Tableau connected but we need guidance on what tables to us.
That all depends on your setup in Intacct. We were able to get away with just inner joining the Hierarchy table and the GLEntry table as we were only trying reproduce the General Ledger. If you are looking to do more than that, it will take some deep diving on your end, unfortunately.
