Union Self Join on Tableau Server data

    Deborah Auer

In the thread called "Looking for formula equilevant to excel formula" the solution calls for a Union self join.  The sample data was in excel but the actual data I am working with is in a Tableau Server and I cannot figure out how the do the Self Union Join called for.

      The original request was:

Please help me find the Tableau equivalent formulas to ones I have in Excel for Open field and the Closed field. They are highlighted in yellow in the Matrix tab.  The data (same as Tableau fields) is in the data tab. I am trying to get the remaining open NCRs that were opened within each previous report period. and the remaining closed NCRs that were opened within each previous report period. example: There were 39 NCRs opened in October 2016.  Of those 39, 9 are currently Open and 30 are currently Closed.

Please help with how to do the self union join with Tableau Server data or how to accomplish task without the self union join.

      Thanks in advance,
