Create a Two field in the data base mentions the users of the Client
Client User AD Group User ID Client A John jo8 Client A David Dav6 Client B Cindy Cindy25 Client B Sara Sara45 Client C robert rob4
Once you had the metadata ready ,
write a calculation
user = username()
and drag this filter field and select "True"
Now whenever John or David Logged in they will see only client A data same with Others
Kindly let me know issue if you find this answer helpful, kindly mark as correct so that it will help others
I think the calculation should be
[AD User Group ID] = username()
As the UserName() function would give the output as User ID not the name.
Sorry My bad , thanks for Correcting Sohan
unfortunately both of these didn't help me with what i am trying to accomplish
As you are looking to provide the users to see different clients data you may need to decide on how many maximum users you will have.
Like Max(maximum number of users who would see the Client A data, Client B Data, Client C data).
For example 2 in your above example. Then create 2 AD groups.
i.e. if Max no. of users who may need a row level security is n then you may need those many (n) AD groups .
The calculated fields will have to be
[AD Group1] = username() OR [AD Group2]= username() OR... [AD Groupn].
This will filter the data as you need.
Is it the case related to Tableau Server? If so, you can create just as much accounts as you want. However I am not quiet sure does it worth it...
