Cannot accept EULA because systemd not running

    Axel Vandevelde

When I install Tableau Server and I get to the point to accept the EULA, it throws the following error:

      Creating directories and setting permissions...

Using '/opt/tableau/tableau_server' as the data directory.

Adding user 'tableau' to group 'tableau'...

Adding user 'tableau' to group 'tsmadmin'...

Note: These group membership changes do not take effect in shells already open. For these to take effect, log out of the shell and log back in.

systemd unit user@1003 is not running. Check /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog.

Cannot continue installation. Please contact Tableau Support.

      Canceling.

If I do a "systemctl status" it says "status: degraded" and when I do a "systemctl status user@1003.service", this is the result:

      user@1003.service - User Manager for UID 1003

Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/user@1003.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)

Active: failed (Result: start-limit) since Sat 2018-05-19 11:45:31 UTC; 3s ago

        Process: 2101 ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd --user (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)  Main PID: 2101 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)

      May 19 11:45:30 ****** systemd[1]: Started User Manager for UID 1003.

      May 19 11:45:31 ****** systemd[1]: user@1003.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart.

      May 19 11:45:31 ****** systemd[1]: start request repeated too quickly for user@1003.service

May 19 11:45:31 ****** systemd[1]: Failed to start User Manager for UID 1003.

      May 19 11:45:31 ****** systemd[1]: Unit user@1003.service entered failed state.

      May 19 11:45:31 ****** systemd[1]: user@1003.service failed.

I tried to do a "systemctl start/restart/reset-failed user@1003.service" but it is still in a failed state. Any ideas?
