I have a dashboard that I created in Tableau Desktop 2018.1 that connects to an Analysis Services database. The dashboard works fine in Tableau Desktop, but when I publish it to Tableau Server it only works for about a day. I then get the error below.
If I restart the Tableau Server services or reboot the server the dashboard will work again until the next day. I'm assuming it has something to do with the jobs that run at night to update the database, but I don't understand why it would work in Tableau Desktop but not Tableau Server. Any ideas?
I have Tableau installed on a Server 2016 and I'm using SQL Server 2016.
Database error 0x80004005: Current session is no longer valid due to structural changes in the database.
Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.
Check to see that you didn't schedule extract refresh on Tableau server at or about the same time as ETL jobs which update the database tables? I suggest you schedule extract refresh long after all jobs affecting the underlying tables have completed.
