    Diffrence in max And Window_Max() in Tableau

      Hi,

      Can any explain me the difference in MAX() and Window_Max() in tableau.

      Is there any specific scenario for these functions ?

          Good morning - the short answer is that window_max looks at the entire table that underlies the viz where Max is specific to the record Or in the case of LODs the combination of dimensions included in the LOD expression

            Please check below screenshot.

            I think this will help you to understand the difference.

             

            WINDOWS_MAX

             

             

            Showing MAX value which we can show in Tableau Window.

             

             

            MAX

            Showing MAX value at Database level if you want to check the value.

            Open Superstore excel and apply filter on Year 2014 and Region Central and Month Jan Feb March and check for Max Sales value in the Table.
