URL Action Link Fitlers not Working Properly

    Amy Garcia

I have a case where the user wants an Excel Icon added to the report that will provide an export of the data set that is selected based on the filters of the dashboard.

I attempted using the Set Url on an image and realized that this does not allow for filters to be passed through (WHY????)

So after some research I came across this page Using Field and Filter Values in URLs . I followed the steps provide in several blog that suggested to use the URL action.

      1. Create a new worksheet "Click to download"
      2. Select the image I wanted to display (in this case Exce Icon)
      3. Added the "Click to download" sheet to the dashboard
      4. Created an URL Action Link and entered the URL for the link
        1. https://URL Link
      5. I added the first Filter to the link
        1. https://URL Link?Vendor%20Category%20Type=<FILTERVALUES(Vendor Category Type)>
        2. https://URL Link?Vendor%20Category%20Type=<FILTERVALUES(Vendor Category Type)>&Headquarter%20State=<FILTERVALUES(Headquarter State)>&
        3. https://URL Link?Vendor%20Category%20Type=<FILTERVALUES(Vendor Category Type)>&Headquarter%20State=<FILTERVALUES(Headquarter State)>&Headquarter%20City=<FILTERVALUES(Headquarter City)>
        4. https://URL Link?Vendor%20Category%20Type=<FILTERVALUES(Vendor Category Type)>&Headquarter%20State=<FILTERVALUES(Headquarter State)>&Headquarter%20City=<FILTERVALUES(Headquarter City)>&Worked 20State=<FILTERVALUES(State)>

The issue I encountered was that when tested this without publishing the report to the server it worked as expected but as soon as I published it to the server the behavior was completely different.

      Example:

      1. If I select ONLY the vendor category type -  The link does not open the export report
      2. If I select vendor category type & Headquarter State - The link does not open the export report
      3. If I select vendor category type, Headquarter State, Headquarter City -The link WORKS.
      4. If I select vendor category type, Headquarter State, Headquarter City & Worked State  - The links does not return the values selected.
