COUNT function giving different values depending on column

    James Delaney

      Hi everyone,

New to the community and I am having what could very well be a simple issue but I cannot get my head around it.

When calculating averages using Tableau instead of excel there were discrepancies. To check these out I created a small Tableau file that just sums up all the values in each column. Unfortunately, the sums do not match what is expected for all except one column so I decided to see if Tableau was reading in the correct number of rows by doing the same thing but instead counting the number of rows in each column. To my surprise the COUNT function returned different values for each column although the number of rows in each is the same and the data is pre-cleaned to not contain any null or blank values.

Below is an Excel pivot table of what the data should look like and attached is the Tableau file that I am having issues with.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot understand why some columns are summed/counted correctly but others are not.

      Thank you
