I cannot attach a workbook as it is restricted but I can give you an example.
total open items are 10.
out of 10, 5 items were open in q1 and 3 were closed in q4. In between q2 2 items were opened and q3 3 items were open.
the open should be counted in all the quarters until it gets closed in q4.
in my case it is doing only by quarter. It is not getting counted in other quarters even though it is open till q4.

Upfront based on the following datastructuur
1. D1. date (Quarters):
2. M1. open/closed: if attr([status])="open" then count([status]) elseif attr([status])="closed" then count([status])*-1 END
3. M2. Display: RUNNING_SUM([M1. open/closed])
4. Drag the required objects to the indicated location
