A TDE that is created with Alteryx cannot be refreshed on Tableau Server - it doesn't have a connection back to the original data source to refresh the data.
If you'd like to refresh an extract on Tableau Server, you'll need to create and publish it with Tableau Desktop - and make sure Tableau Server has access to the original database in order to refresh the data.
As Carisa says, there is no direct way of refreshing.
The option I have found is to have a TDSX (which contains the TDE and TDS files), unzip it, replace the TDE with the updated version, Zip it up again, and the publish this file. (either using Tabcmd or REST API), which overwrites the Data source on the server
All of this can be automated, so that Alteryx can do the work for you. (You just need to add the additional steps.)
To do the Zipping up of the TDSX uses 7z.exe (which comes with Tableau) and use the following command (7z a -tzip C:\temp\tdnew.tdsx c:\temp\dsfolder.tdsx\*.* -r)
Then the only remaining issue is if you have Revision History enabled, you will need to delete older revisions (either manually or use REST API)
Hope this helps
