It isn't clear in your description how your tables can link. How does the NewDate column link to the other table? Can you send screenshot of both tables, at least the headers? Do you just need to add a column or replace data in a column? Do your tables look like below? Is there an ID that links tables?
date shop etc 11/1/17 11/7/17 etc
Sorry about my way of telling this problem out, but im new in tableau.
Its correct how you made thouse 2 tables.
Thats the thing, the tables are not connected, ive tried union and doesnt work, and i don't know how to replace the data from table 2 into table 1.
The first table1 its allready in tableau made as a custom query with this formula : select * from (select Date,Shop, .....etc from Database where Shop='Total' Order by Date Desc limit 2)
And now i recieved table 2 and i have to replace data from table 1 with New Data from table 2, so that continiously show me in tableau he last 2 days from NewDate.
P.S.: Data fron table 1 is in tableau as Day of sign in.
The criteria for replacing the values isn't clear. How do you know what date goes on what row? Does 11/14 replace 10/10? or what?
Or do you just want to use table 2 instead of table 1?
I want the dates from table 2 -New Data to go on table 1 replacing Day of sign in.
I want to use both table.
For ex if you look at my prt screen where is writen 19oct 2017 and 20oct 2017, there is where i want to appear the last 2 days that appear in table 2-New Data.
19oct 2017 has to be replace with 12/6
and 20 oct 2017 with 12/14,
I hope you undersand now.
there needs to be something that links the tables - it just seems arbitrary. If all you want to do is change 10/20/2017 to 12/14/2017 then a simple formula is all you need.
A workbook would be very helpful. I truly don't understand what you are trying to do.
I dont know how to link the tables,
cand you help me with that in the first place?
Second: what fomula would you use to change 10/20/2017 to 12/14/2017?
Given what you have above, and assuming the field in Table 1 is called [Date] then
if [Date] = date("2017-10-19") then date("2017-12-6")
elseif [Date]=date("2017-10-20") then date("2017-12-14")
this will ONLY change those specific values, but that is what you are saying you need.
I do not think you need to link the tables if all you want to do is change the values in table 1
correct, but if the NewData gets newer dates, for example : 12/17/2017 , 12/18/2017.......12/20/2017, the formula will be available?
i want an universal formula that will update if the NewData recieves new dates.
