# Date client turns a specific age from a given DOB

we contact our clients when they hit a specific age 21, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90. Firstly i need to know how to calculate a clients age today? Secondly how could I create a formula to work out which of the clients are going to reach one of these specific ages in 2018 and display the date they are going to reach it? For example with a dob of the 20/01/1978 the client is 39 and will be 40 on the 20/01/2018. i want to create a visualisation to show the ca lender year and which clients turn 21, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 on given days. this is way beyond me but hopefully someone can help?!

Hi, Dacre

To calculate to client age, you can use datediff('year', [DOB], Today())

and in terms of turning, you can modify above calculation as datediff('year', [DOB], dateadd('day',[given days], today()))

Hope this could help

Dacre,

The attached file in the forum post uses the methods described above.

There is the need to make the fields for each benchmark age.

I also implemented a separate datasource tab with a lookup year

which seemed to help in getting the overall calendar.

Hi Dacre,

I have attached a sample workbook for you that shows couple of ways that you can look at the data. For a better visualisation, you can create additional rows for each milestone year before getting the data on to Tableau (sort of pivoting the data).

Hope it helps!
