Hi Sada Valliappan - without knowing the total number of desktops or the size of the server it's hard to be definitive, but the desktop reporting feature has very little overhead compared to, for example, displaying a viz or refreshing an extract; it's just a small ping from each desktop once every 8 hours. If the server is handling its current workload OK, I don't think turning on desktop reporting will have a significant impact. We haven't had any cases I could find of turning on this feature causing a performance problem, nor would I expect it to.
I suspect you've already found it but just in case you haven't: we wrote the Desktop Deployment Guide to cover scenarios like this.
Hi @Dan Becker,
Thanks for your instant reply back on my query...My understanding based on my "Tableau Server Architecture" & Implementation experience suggested the same as well, but I wanted to check with the experts as well .
We have a "Server upgrade" project coming up --> Hardware Uplift & Software version upgrade mostly to 10.4 Scheduled in the next month, which could be used to bundle the changes for "Desktop Reporting" as well...Based on all above facts, I am convinced that the new feature enablement should be fine on our platform.
