    Importing road maps to Tableau?

Does anyone know if there is a way to import road maps in the UK for use in Tableau distance analysis.

I know currently that if you calculate distances between points it does so by using straight line distance but would be awesome is for the distances to be based on actual roads so you could work out how far somebody lives by road to their nearest hospital for example.

I'm hoping there is a solution without the need to purchase a road network add-on.

      Thanks in advance.

Tableau is only able to make calculations based off the data you give it. It's mapping engine is not like google maps.

You would need to calculate driving distances in an external tool and then push the result of that into Tableau. In theory you could create a Web Data Connector which prompts for an Origin and Destination, makes a request to the google maps Directions API, takes the response, parses it and pushes the result into Tableau.
