Have u subscribed any views or just enabled smtp and mail subscription option.
When you enable subscription then mail icon will get in views. Select that icon and subscribe.
If you subscribed correctly then it will show in task subscription menu.
I have subscribed to multiple view for subscription, and enabled the SMTP settings.
I am using gmail id for sending the mail, please do check the smtp settings.
Do we need follow something else for the mailers.
For Send email to, enter at least one email address that will receive the alerts. If you enter multiple addresses, separate them with commas.
Please check the user login added any mail id or not.
Edit your user profile and check correct mail id given or not.

what version of tableau server are you using? in the instructions for SMTP it says: "Uncheck Enable TLS so the connection to your mail server is unencrypted. (Encrypted SMTP connections are not supported for alerts or subscriptions.)" (obviously this might be undesired in many cases). I am running 10.3 and subscriptions work with TLS enabled, but I am not sure about previous versions (I did not set up SMTP until I upgraded from 10.1 to 10.3)
I would also try email@example.com for the username
also as a note, the Username has to be for a real email, but the send email from, can be what ever you want (just changes the from field in the message header)
since you have email alerts for server up, down and failover. enabled, you (the send to email on the smtp tab) should get an email if you restart tableau server, Do you? if not the issue is likely with the smtp settings, if you do then the smtp settings work and its something else
