If you are using the index() function to jitter your viz, then you can use the modulo or mod function, which returns the remainder of a number divided by another. In Tableau, the mod function is represented by %. For example 15 % 4 = 3 In your example above index() % 23 returns a remainder number between 0 and 22 no matter how large the index gets. That way your graph will paint numbers in that range and will not be too wide.
