I've come across a problem that I'm trying to figure out and I was hoping for some guidance. I'm not sure this is even possible in Tableau but I figured it can't hurt to ask. To make things simpler, I created a sample of my problem using the Superstore data source.
I have a simple trended line chart where I'm showing profit of subcategories trended over time. I have 2 quick filters. The first is Category and the second is Sub-Category set to show only relevant values.
What I want to do is give the user the ability to add additional subcategories as they see fit, even if those sub-categories belong to a different category. In the attached example, I would like to give them the ability to remove Chairs and add Phones. However, Phones is a sub-category of Technology.
Is this possible? And if so how can it be done?
The "only relevant values" is going to limit the selection availability to just those sub-categories that are valid for the view. You cold change this to 'All Values in Database' from the drop down menu of the Filter in the view and then the user could select across the board any of the possible values.
I hope that helps.
