It looks like what you are trying to do is fine - the only problem I had with the workbook was the data source is limited to 2011-2014 so when you applied a filter based on today's date it filtered out your data
see below I anchored the filter to 12/31/14 and picked previous 2 years and got the 2013-2014 comparison - with your % difference calculation intact
Let me know if this helped
Period Filter.twbx 1.1 MB
Thank you very much for this! Very close to what I am looking for - just a quick question: how does it work when the data is refreshed and more dates are added? Will it automatically show latest date?
And also, is there a way to add YTD on the drop down so it automatically shows YTD?
Thank you once again!
Thank you for your reply, the data is the superstore hence no 2017 data. Sorry, I should have changed it to avoid confusion.
But what I am looking for is that the aggregation of year on the columns shelf will change to quarter when the user starts filtering on quarter in the Relative Dates filter. Or any way for to change the aggregation and for it to automatically update to the latest date!
Thank you once again,
Yes, because the calc uses today(), it's automatically updated.
YTD requires different appraoch and I can take a look in several hours.
